NVLink isn’t doing anything for games except allowing you to use SLI. For that purpose, yes it’s limited to two cards. Any NVLink that can do more than 2 GPUs is actually an NVSwitch, and it’s meant for multiple Tesla GPUs such as the V100 to be used in a deep learning machine. This is ridiculously expensive and you won’t be gaming on it.
